Lakeside Summers (wip)
“We used to spend entire summers at a family cottage by a lake, with my parents and older siblings, and I think some of my fondest family memories are from this time. Something that has really stuck to me, are the spoken family legends of that time ‒ I carry, but also value these things to this day. Even though we spent these summers in the countryside, my parents traveled to the town to work on weekdays, often leaving my brother, sister and cousin to look after me. The reason I bring up the lake and my siblings, is because they both play an integral part to this text and work ‒ you see, my sibling came up with quite deliberate stories of monsters that lurk beneath the surface of the lake if I went swimming when it was dark out, or during rain/fog. This was of course only a teenagerʼs way of protecting their younger sibling, though perhaps not the most ethical way of doing so.”
